Bakersfield is a relatively small city (under 350,000), about halfway between Fresno and Los Angeles. It's been called the armpit (and elbow) of California, hopefully because of its location. But, I think we have gotten a bad wrap. There are some things about Bakersfield which are just great.
Like Dewar's.
Dewar’s is a 4th generation, family-owned ice creamery
that’s been around since 1909. It's old-fashioned and perfect. The ice cream is old-fashioned and delicious. They have toppings galore, the pricing is beyond fair, and it's a great little family place.Even better, they have these great chews, which practically everyone in Bakersfield grew up with- especially around the holidays.
Dewar's is more than just an ice cream parlor or a candy shop.
It's a Bakersfield tradition. And I love it.
